The beautiful city of Naples boasts numerous museums which attract tourists from all over the world. Thanks to the artistic taste of many of its citizens who gathered amazing art collections, the amount of artworks on display is really outstanding.

One the most noteworthy museums is The Pio Monte di Misericordia which is housed on the first floor of an ancient building in the old centre of Naples. This amazing gallery contains paintings made by the most important and notorious Neapolitan artists or by painters who spent a long time in the city of Naples like Jusepe de Ribera and Dick Hendricksz.

Many canvases on display are a few artworks made by Luca Giordano, Andrea Vaccaro, Fabrizio Santafede and Francesco De Mura among others. 

The Church of the Pio Monte, decorated with canvases made by Luca Giordano, Fabrizio Santafede, Giovan Vincenzo D’Onofrio, Bernardo Azzolino and Battistello Caracciolo, hosts one of the most famous masterpieces: Caravaggio’s Seven Works of Mercy. The beautiful and unique canvas was painted by Caravaggio while he was in Naples for a brief period. The painter was really brilliant in producing this masterpiece which leaves everyone amazed!
